My Grandfather the Communist (in progress) by Ada Rajkovic

Ada, a young American filmmaker raised by immigrants from a country that no longer exists, discovers a hidden box of family archives in San Francisco that leads her to reconstruct her grandfather’s life in the former Yugoslavia and confront her own fractured identity as her grandfather becomes a metaphor for the vanished nation and its lost utopia.
